Joseph Sarachek
Joseph E. Sarachek is the Managing Partner of Strategic Liquidity. Joe is one of the foremost authorities in the trading of privately held distressed debt. Mr. Sarachek is a renowned attorney and investment professional. He currently serves as Trustee of Agriprocessors and was chairman of several committees on the Board of Directors of Emergent Capital Corp., a publicly listed company with an interest in $2.7 billion of life insurance policies. Joe is an Adjunct Professor at The Leonard Stern School of Business at New York University where he teaches classes on bankruptcy investing. He has lectured extensively at Harvard Business School, Harvard Law School, Cornell University, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Turnaround Management Association. Prior to forming SLF, Joe has worked at a number of investment firms focused on bankruptcies and turnarounds. Joe also has “big firm” experience as he was a partner at McDermott Wil l& Emery. Joe has a J.D. from New York Law School and a B.S. from Cornell University. Joe won the Turnaround of Year award for his work as Bankruptcy Trustee of Agriprocessors, Inc. and recently won a Turnaround award from the M&A Advisor for Financials Turnaround of the Year. Mr.Sarachek has been involved in hundreds of bankruptcy cases throughout his career and uniquely situated to recover assets for his clients.
Denise Fava
Denise Fava has worked with the Sarachek Law firm for the past 5 years, She started as an Executive Assistant at SLF and moved into her role with SLFAQ, LLC by doing research on bankruptcies for Sarachek Law Firm. Her prior experience includes working in the commercial real estate, non-profit and health care software development industries.
She is passionate about causes and has worked with many non-profit organizations, including, Save the Children and buildOn. This passion led her to start her own business where she provided consulting and event planning services for non-profit organizations. Denise studied in Boston, MA at SuffolkUniversity.
Freddie Smithson
With over 35 years of experience in the capital markets, Freddie Smithson has built an impressive career. He began at J.P. Morgan, where he specialized in bond issuance and financial risk management using derivatives, later working in a similar capacity at BNP Paribas. Freddie served as the CFO of a hedge fund, overseeing its liquidation and returning funds to investors upon closure. Additionally, he founded a tax lien investment fund and worked with Blue Sky Capital Strategies to advise clients on capital raising efforts.Freddie has extensive experience investing in distressed debt, such as Argentina bonds, bank loans, judgments, and other illiquid distressed assets. Freddie is an active member of the Turnaround Management Association, Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, American Bankruptcy Institute, National Association of Federal Equity Receivers, and the CFA Society of South Florida, where he also serves on the board. He holds an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business and a BBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Freddie has been a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a registered CPA in Illinois, a CFA charterholder, and a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA). He is also an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University School of Business.
Jarred Herzberg
Jarred Herzberg is an analyst atStrategic Liquidity. Jarred is aCertified Public Accountant with exceptional analytical skills required in distressed investments having worked as a manager at KPMG and BDO performing financial audits and advisory services. He provided services for some of Canada’s largest companies such asRogers, BDO, Celestica and in the Nortel Canada bankruptcy. Jarred is an early adopter of crypto currency and has considerable knowledge in this area. Jarred has a business degree with specialization in finance and accounting from the University of Western Ontario.
